Sumikama Cutlery

Sumikama Cutlery has been producing high-quality cutting tools for over 100 years. Founded in 1916, the company has preserved a wealth of traditional knowledge and craftsmanship. Today, this rich heritage is combined with modern materials and innovative manufacturing techniques.

One example of these modern techniques is the use of CNC machines. Steel sheets are cut with extreme precision, after which the blades are traditionally hand-ground and carefully finished by skilled craftsmen. This process creates a perfect balance between technology and artisanal workmanship.

Sumikama is known for its high and consistent quality, which is clearly reflected in, among others, the popular Kasumi series.

The blades are crafted by true artisans in Seki, a region internationally renowned for its knife-making tradition. Great attention is paid to detail, the heat-treatment process, and the finely refined thin grind of the blade.

The name Kasumi translates to “white mist” and is a well-known term and finish within the knife world. It refers to the soft white mist surrounding the mountains of Seki and symbolizes the subtle, matte appearance of the blade.
