In September 2023, they launched a new brand at Aoki Hamono: the 三宝 Sanpou brand. It is named after the location of their blacksmith and means “three treasures”, a Buddhist name in origin. For them, the three treasures are steel, fire and water, the most important ingredients for 600 years of Sakai knives. With this new line they keep the fire burning and pass on the essence of Sakai Takayuki DNA to the next generation.
