Masahiro is a knife manufacturer with a history of more than 70 years, based in the city of Seki, a place renowned worldwide for its tradition in sword and knife making. The knives are almost entirely produced in Masahiro’s own factory. The high-quality MBS-26 steel commonly used by Masahiro undergoes a three-stage heat treatment process, which gives the knives their hardness and durability.
A distinctive feature of Masahiro’s style is the 80/20 edge geometry. Instead of a symmetrical 50/50 grind, one side of the blade is sharpened at a steeper angle than the other. This results in a more refined cutting edge; according to Masahiro, the cutting edge is approximately 35% thinner. As a result, these knives are primarily suited for right-handed users.
Masahiro knives are known for their hard steel, excellent cutting performance and strong price-to-quality.
