Petty • 110 mm • Pakistani dark wood with mosaic pin • 33 layers of VG10 • Japanese western handle • for both left and right-handed use

Tomo, the owner of Zanmai, makes this Pro series with a dark wooden handle especially for us. Thanks to this wood, combined with black fillers, the knife gets a warm, but also chic look. The handle is beautifully polished round and gives a lot of feeling. Wood is fine in general, it does not become slippery and maintains a constant temperature. I am very proud that we can offer this series.

Features of the Zanmai Classic Pro series

The Classic Pro series has a core of VG10 steel, between 32 layers of stainless matted damask steel. The blade is relatively thin, with a medium/light weight. The knife gives a lot of hand feeling, partly due to the handle that is perfectly shaped for Western hands. This is ergonomically shaped and gives a lot of hand feeling while cutting. Beautiful mosaic pin gives the whole a luxurious look: ZANMAI.

The combination of hand feel, balance and the extremely thin and sharp cutting edge provide enormous comfort while cutting. The VG10 steel is, after forging and thinning, hardened by cooling it extremely quickly. This results in the right hardness and toughness of the steel, which can not only be sharpened very sharply, but also stays sharp for a very long time.

Elwin de Veld about Mcusta Zanmai

The president of Zanmai, Tomohiro Hasegawa, has actually only just come to look into the world of chef's knives. The company Mcusta has been around for more than thirty years, but has always focused on pocket knives and scissors. Over the past 10 years they have proven themselves on the market of chef's knives and how! All the knowledge and know-how that the company had already gathered was immediately used in the new production line for chef's knives: modern and using the latest high-end materials.

Tomohiro san is my classmate, at least, that was if he was born in the Netherlands or I was born in Japan. At least that's what we call each other, classmates. Meanwhile, about 35 people work in the factory and Tomo san is a big president of a knife brand that strongly manifests itself in the highest regions of the market. ZANMAI!
