Features of the Masahiro MV-H Series

The MV-H series is an upgrade over the BWH series, which is evident in the knife’s finish. The handle is made of plastic and nicely rounded for a comfortable grip. In addition, a bolster is welded on, giving the knife extra stability and making it easier to hold securely.

The steel is MBS-26, a monosteel with added molybdenum and vanadium.

Molybdenum contributes to the toughness of the steel. This means the blade is less prone to chipping, more wear-resistant, and less susceptible to pitting corrosion. It also adds extra stability during heat treatment.

Vanadium is known as the “king of edge retention.” It refines the grain structure of the steel and increases wear resistance, allowing the knife to maintain its sharpness for a longer period of time.
