Characteristics of Ikyu Whetstones

Ikyu whetstones are high-quality sharpening stones. The stones need to be soaked before use. These are true work stones, suitable for both stainless steel and carbon steel.

The stones are made from clay, aluminium oxide, and Mikawa Nagura stone powder. Ikyu aims to produce synthetic stones that provide the same feedback as natural stones. The stones are available in various grits, up to #6000.

Ikyu focuses on true work stones, which is why we do not offer polishing stones from Ikyu in our range. These stones are intended for both beginner sharpeners and professionals looking for a strong price-to-quality ratio.
